Hannah
Butler is a proud mum of three who enjoys the relaxed lifestyle of Tasmania’s
Southern Beaches, where she lives close to the beach. When she’s not working,
Hannah is busy juggling her children’s sporting schedules, exploring local
bushwalking trails, browsing antique shops, or caring for her ever-growing
collection of indoor plants.
Professionally,
Hannah is a highly experienced Registered Nurse and clinical leader with over
15 years of expertise in aged care, palliative care, oncology, and community
health. Throughout her career, she has remained deeply committed to delivering
high-quality, compassionate care and fostering effective multidisciplinary
collaboration.
Hannah
has excelled in a variety of leadership roles, including as Nurse Unit Manager
at Calvary Hospital’s Gibson Unit, where she led a palliative care and oncology
team, ensuring excellence in care delivery and compliance with accreditation
standards.
Over the
past three years, she has worked at Palliative Care Tasmania as the Manager of
Sector and Community Engagement, leading the education team in the development
and delivery of statewide education and community engagement initiatives. In
this role, she contributed to sector-wide capacity building through policy
development, advocacy, and strategic partnerships, helping to strengthen
awareness and understanding of palliative care across the health system and the
broader community.
Alongside
this, Hannah also served as a Clinical Nurse Consultant with the Specialist
Palliative Care Service – Community Team, providing advanced clinical care,
support, and guidance to individuals and families receiving palliative care at
home. These dual roles reflect her unique blend of frontline clinical expertise
and system-level leadership, all driven by a passion for person-centred,
integrated care.
Hannah is
known for her deep understanding of clinical governance and her ability to
navigate complex regulatory frameworks to drive continuous quality improvement.
Her leadership style is characterised by empathy, integrity, and a focus on
empowering teams to deliver outstanding patient care. She is passionate about
developing healthcare professionals, having led education and training
initiatives across various healthcare settings.
Her
expertise extends to advanced symptom management, end-of-life care, and
supporting both patients and families through difficult transitions. Hannah’s
experience in palliative care both professionally and personally, has shaped
her ability to lead with both clinical precision and emotional intelligence,
ensuring that every individual receives care that prioritises dignity, respect,
and well-being.
Hannah is
currently pursuing a Specialist Certificate in Palliative Care through Flinders
University and aspires to continue her studies as a Nurse Practitioner,
focusing on community-based palliative and aged care.
