I wish to assure you that our Outbreak Management Team led by Wendy Chamberlain is working closely with Public Health, The Commonwealth, Aged Care Emergency Outbreak Centre and The Aged Care Quality Commission, to minimise the spread of infection and contain and control the outbreak as quickly and safely as possible.

Dear Residents and Families

Queen Victoria Care would like to inform you that following the PCR testing for the Residents held on the 16th of February 2022, 2 residents have tested positive to COVID-19. The health, safety and well-being of our residents of Queen Victoria Care is of the highest priority.

I wish to assure you that our Outbreak Management Team led by Wendy Chamberlain is working closely with Public Health, The Commonwealth, Aged Care Emergency Outbreak Centre and The Aged Care Quality Commission, to minimise the spread of infection and contain and control the outbreak as quickly and safely as possible.

A number of health measures have been implemented.

  • Daily Rapid Antigen Testing has been undertaken for staff prior to commencing shifts at Queen Victoria Care. We have had no further positive staff.
  • Tier 3 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is being utilised to ensure the safety of residents and staff.

We would also like to reassure you that Queen Victoria Care has adequate staff levels and we have no issues with filling the shifts of staff who are currently furloughed.

We recognise this is a difficult time for families and friends, but we are committed to providing the latest information and updates, and alternative methods of connecting with your loved ones. We have dedicated Leisure and Lifestyle team members in each area to ensure connections with family are happening via technology.

The Leisure and Lifestyle team are also encouraging residents to go for a daily walks to promote exercise and to ensure residents are engaged. Individual visits are being conducted, we also have our dedicated carers, clinicians, cleaning and catering team who know all our residents very well and are making sure the residents are well taken care of, the recent Valentines day lunch was a big hit on Monday 14th February.

Please call our Reception staff who can make a booking for you with the Lifestyle Team if you would like assistance with phone calls, or a zoom session.

We thank the families and friends of our residents for their understanding and will continue to work and communicate closely together. Our new message manager email or sms service is also another new form of communication we have implemented.

Please be assured the Queen Victoria Care staff are doing their absolute best and we want to acknowledge their support and professionalism during this challenging period. They are truly doing an amazing job and their dedication is exceptional.
